When I first started using Soberlink as a requirement to spend time with my daughter, others saw it as a nuisance, I was grateful for the chance to be accountable and have some kind of track record I could use. It was no longer my word against nothing. My credibility had disappeared. It was no longer just me saying yes I’m sober. I had proof. I’ll be the first to admit being expected to take tests, helps me stay sober. AA, the steps, and my sponsor are necessary too, of course, but I’m very grateful for so much, and being sober is worth it. My daughter has her mom back. My marriage had already failed. Nothing, not even sobriety, was going to fix that. I’ve been sober for over 2 years now, and I couldn’t imagine going back. Life is not perfect, but it is amazing compared to what it was before. I was a shell of a person as an active alcoholic. Now I’m a useful member of society again.
