I was terrified to share custody with someone who had a drinking problem. As feared, there was an alcohol-related incident involving my daughter. I took immediate action, hired an attorney, and filed an emergency protection order. However, even though I knew this was the right choice, I also knew it would be hard on my child as she is young and loves her Dad. She isn't fully aware of his issues, and when sober, he is a present and loving father. My attorney proposed Soberlink to me. She told me it was a breathalyzer that would send me the notifications/results, which would then give me the tools to decide on what to do if he blew positive, missed a test, etc., while she was in his custody. Soberlink gave me SO much peace of mind. A year out of that decision, her Dad has now been completely sober for the past 4 months and is seeing her more. Even when he was still drinking, at least I knew he wasn't when he had her, because he had to blow in the breathalyzer.
