On April 15, 2020, the Hon. Dianna J. Gould-Saltman (USA) and Prof. Michael Saini (Canada) discussed the anticipated effects (e.g. higher rates of divorce, intimate partner violence, and child abuse) and the consequences of halting the family court system to control the spread of the virus (e.g. backlogs, delays, etc.). The purpose of this webinar was to consider creative, innovative and differential approaches to respond to the increased pressures on family court services, to improve access to justice, and to harness our collective strength to help navigate families through this crisis.
The Hon. Dianna Gould-Saltman is a Judge for Los Angeles County Superior Court in California and former President of AFCC.
Prof. Michael Saini is Associate Professor and holds the endowed Chair in Law and Social Work at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto.
