Early in my recovery, accountability was critical to building trust with my wife and myself. The fact that I had proof that I wasn't drinking reduced conflict by removing any suspicion my wife might otherwise have. Also, I wasn't tempted to drink alcoholic spritzer beverages that don't smell. The breathalyzer really simplified my recovery, especially in the early days.
